Introduction to our Partial Hospitalization Program in Phoenix, AZ
Is Your Kiddo Stuck? Redefining What Intensive Therapy Looks Like (Hint: It Doesn't Feel Like a Hospital)
About our Partial Hospitalization Program in Phoenix, AZ
When your child is truly struggling—whether they are refusing to go to school, battling depression that medication hasn’t helped, or transitioning back from a residential stay—it can feel like you’ve reached the end of the road. You’ve tried individual therapy. Maybe you tried an IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program). It feels like nothing is "sticky."
If you’re a parent watching your kiddo feel "stuck," we want you to know there is another step.
In this video, The Rosemary Tree's founder, Jason, discusses our most intensive level of support: a five-day-a-week program (commonly known in clinical circles as a Partial Hospitalization Program, or PHP).
But as you’ll hear in the video, Jason isn’t a fan of that name. At The Rosemary Tree, we’re doing things differently.

Why We Don't Call it a "Hospital" Program
If you watch the video above, you’ll quickly notice that Jason isn’t fond of the clinical terminology often used for this type of program.
"I don't really like the name, to be honest with you. It stands for partial hospitalization program. Not a fan of that... The word hospital is in there." - Jason
We agree. When your child needs intensive care, they don't need to feel like they are in a sterile, clinical environment. They need to feel safe, supported, and understood.
That’s why we just call it our Five-Day-a-Week Program.
Is This Program Right for Your Family?
This intensive level of care isn't a starting point. It’s a bridge for when traditional methods haven't quite met your family’s needs.
Jason explains that this program is typically designed for kiddos experiencing:
School Refusal: The anxiety of the school day has become an impassable barrier.
Treatment-Resistant Depression: You’ve tried medication and it’s not working; you’ve tried individual or group therapy and haven’t seen progress.
Transitions: Your kid has just been discharged from a residential treatment center and needs a step-down process from 24/7 care.
If any of these resonate, this program may provide the immersive environment your child needs to shift from simply surviving to thriving.
What Makes The Rosemary Tree Different: Therapy Meets Education
When your child requires this much support (often 20+ hours a week for 6 to 12 weeks), we understand that parents worry about them falling behind academically.
At The Rosemary Tree, we don't put academics on hold. We integrate them.
Our 5-Day-a-Week Program includes:
A Full Family System Assessment: We don’t just treat the "identified patient." We look at all the contributing factors and involve the whole family system in the healing process.
Integrated Education: We have a certified teacher on our team who conducts an academic assessment.
Skills in Action: Our teacher doesn't just tutor. They weave emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills directly into the educational process. By helping your child navigate their academic triggers in real-time, we rebuild their confidence and resilience.
Comprehensive Modalities: This program blends mental health assessments with individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy.
Let’s Take the Next Step, Together.
Our 5-Day-a-Week Program runs Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and Friday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am (the perfect way to ease into the weekend).
If your family is curious about whether this is the right recommendation for your kiddo, please reach out to us. As Jason says in the video, "I would love to chat with you about how that works for you and how that works for your family and for your kiddo."

Sometimes your kid needs some more intensive therapy, and we here at the Rosemary Tree have several options, one of which our, our most intense option is a five day a week program. Often it is called PHP I don't really like the name to be honest with you. It stands for partial hospitalization program.
Not a fan of that. The, the word hospital is in there. I don't like it. So I call it our five day week program. It is for kids who have school refusal. It is for really treatment resistant depression. You've tried medication and it's not working. You've tried a three day a week, IOP. You've tried individual therapy, you've tried a residential treatment center and just these things aren't working.
So it might be that you need this five day a week program. Maybe your kid just got discharged from a residential treatment stay and they're recommending going from 24 7 care down to five day a week care. That's an awesome recommendation and we would welcome your kiddo into that and your family into that.
We do here at the rosemary tree, see the whole family system. So we want to investigate all the contributing factors to how your kid got to this point. And we do that in our five day week program. It often lasts 6, 8, 12 weeks, something like that. It goes from 10 to three, Monday through Thursday, nine to 11 on Friday, a little shorter day, a little weekend kind of day.
And what we do is we start off with the mental health assessment, but we also do an education assessment. We have a certified teacher on our team who guides the education process and filters in. Some emotion regulation skills, some distress tolerance skills into the educational process. Helping them move towards more thriving in that academic place gives them confidence in who they are and how they can be successful.
And then we do individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, all within that 20 plus hours a week in that five day a week program. If that's what you're being recommended for or you're curious about that, please. Give me a call. I would love to chat with you about how that works for you and how that works for your family and for your kiddo.
Thanks for listening.
