Introduction to our Intensive Outpatient Program in Phoenix, AZ
Intensive Support That Fits Into Real Life
When "Once a Week" Isn't Enough: Inside the IOP at The Rosemary Tree
Introduction: Maybe you’re here because your child’s therapist suggested they need "more." Maybe something has shifted at home or school, and you realize that one hour of therapy a week just isn’t moving the needle anymore.
If you’ve been referred to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), it can sound intimidating. But at The Rosemary Tree, our IOP isn’t about "fixing" a problem in a clinical vacuum—it’s about providing a safe, creative, and nature-filled space where your child can build the skills they need to thrive in the real world.
As our founder, Jason, explains in the video above, our IOP is designed to be a bridge.

Therapy That Works Around the School Day
One of the biggest hurdles for families seeking higher levels of care is the schedule. We believe that, whenever possible, kids should stay connected to their peers and their education.
Our IOP is structured to fit into your child’s existing life:
The Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. (In the summer, we bump this up to four days a week).
The Focus: These three-hour sessions aren't just spent sitting on a couch. We engage kiddos through creative art expression, increasing their distress tolerance, and helping them identify emotional strengths they didn't know they had.
Not a "Cookie-Cutter" Program
In the video, Jason emphasizes one major differentiator at The Rosemary Tree: Personalization.
"Yes, we have these structures... but your kid is unique. Your family is unique, so we personalize it to make it work for you." — Jason
While we have a proven flow, we aren't rigid. If your child needs a slightly different rhythm than our typical 3:30–6:30 pm block, we work with you to figure out what actually helps your kiddo succeed.
Healing the Whole Family System
We don’t believe in "dropping off" a child to be "fixed." True healing happens when the whole family grows together. That’s why our IOP includes a mandatory (and meaningful) family component:
Tuesday Parent Sessions: Every Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, parents join us.
Support & Connection: You’ll participate in either a parent support group or a "lively and playful" full-family session with other families.
Creative Engagement: Expect to get your hands dirty and engage in the same creative work your kids are doing. It’s about building a common language of healing.
Getting Outside the Office
You’ll notice Jason filmed this video outside—and there’s a reason for that. We are passionate about the healing power of the natural world. In our IOP, we often get outside to engage with nature, helping kiddos notice what is happening in their bodies as they move through the world.
A Safe Place to Thrive
If you are feeling overwhelmed by a referral for "higher level of care," take a deep breath. Our IOP is a safe, collaborative, and passionate environment designed to help your child get back to a place of thriving.

Video Transcript:
📍 You are watching this because you have a kiddo who needs a higher level of care and you got referred to the rosemary tree, or you searched and you found us here at the Rosemary tree. And this is a little introduction to our intensive outpatient program. It is from a structural standpoint, three days a week in the summer months, we do four days a week.
It's in the afternoon so kiddos can stay in school. And arrive here on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday at three 30, and we spend three hours doing things like creative art expression, increasing their distress tolerance, helping them identify and utilize their emotional strength in a different way than they have been before.
We connect with them. We are passionate as a team. We do a lot of collaborative work in our intensive outpatient. A lot of times it is for a kiddo who is doing already one week, uh, one hour a week of individual therapy, but they need something more. Maybe you got a referral because something happened in your kiddo's life and someone is telling you you need more.
They need more. So that's why you're here. That's why you're looking into this, one of the pieces that separates our IOP from others. Is that we personalize the program for you. So yes, we have these structures to it, but your kid is unique. Your family is unique, so we personalize it to make it work for you.
Some kiddos need something a little bit different than our typical three day a week, three 30 to six 30 flow. So we'll work that out and we'll figure that out with you. We do include the family system into what we do. So parents, you come every Tuesday. From five to six 30 and you participate for 90 minutes in either a parent support group or a full family session with you and your kiddo and all the other kiddos in the group.
And those are pretty lively and playful, and we engage you in some creative work. We will often. In our IOP program, get outside and try to engage in nature like where I'm standing, and notice what's going on in our body as we move and engage with the natural world. So if there's some curiosity for you about what IOP looks like for our kid, you can definitely find more information on our website, which will give you the actual structure, the flow, the schedule.
But what I want you to hear parents is this is a safe place for you and your family and your kiddo to come for the next few months and get that structure and support to help your kiddo get back to a place of thriving in their life. I'm happy to talk with you more. Happy to share more. My name's Jason, and we're the rosemary tree.
